slavery (not chattel slavery, more like being on the breadline today but still, ownership); forced drugging; description of bullying and emotional abuse in the past; familial manipulation; description of anxiety symptoms; alludes to extreme physical abuse of slaves.

I WANT to be supplanted. I initially shelved HER GOLDEN EYES because no matter how much research I do, no matter how much I strive to represent the medieval culture of Arabic colonised North Africa, I am still a frickin’ celt.

I only tell these stories because there are not enough medieval romances in English set outside Europe. I am privileged enough to have dozens of books about the era. Some even have more than a sentence on Ouagadou! *gasps of amazement*

note: this series is on hiatus at minimum because despite the kind assurances of Kiru Taye that my books have a place at Love Africa Press I simply do not feel a) that it’s my place to keep writing these; b) that it reflects well on me or LAP that someone this white is writing them and the guilt at the possibility I might draw fire on an indie publisher who have been so damn kind stops me writing.

But I do have other characters I had planned books for so… never say never, I guess?
