I found asmr rp because men in porn don’t moan enough. Brace yourself, recover from that, we good? ok…

I started writing asmr scripts as a way of warming up for book writin’ and getting the plot bunnies out of my system. And… look, because I discovered I could make baritones say whatever I wanted and I needed to hear ClockworkImp be a cowboy.

But there is a real community of writers and artists out there and they can be – if you find the right corner – so supportive and so kind.

So since they encouraged me to fight my hatred of my voice, I figured I’d pass on what I’ve learned this year.

Now… as of October 2026 I have a little less than 200 subs on youtube. I am not a big hitter, I cannot tell you how to make a living out of asmr, but I will share the things that I THINK are useful.

  • Microphone: I use a Fifine K669B mic. Iove it. It’s not professional super duper but it elevated me to “i am not ashamed of this” levels.
  • AI on laptop: you’ll need to deselect AI smoothing vouce shit from your soundcard (mibe’s realtek) and once you’ve plugged in the mic from the Sound > Devices > Recording section of your control panel for that microphone
  • Editing Software: Audacity is free and can be used but I personally got Reaper in the january sales and after a couple of tutorials I find it sublime to edit in
  • Sound Effects: i am a soundscaping whore… you have no idea… and so i subscribe to Soundly and it is very worth it… (and links directly to Reaper) but there are loads of free libraries out there, i just feel guilty not paying someone for how many i use, given i release weekly… i also get mysic from pixabay and donate to the account when i do!
  • The Evil God Al G’Rhythm: download youtube studio, it’ll help you see which vids are doing well, especially now youtube counts clicks as views, rather than watches, if you know what i mean! Regular uploads, responding to comments, using the Post feature, all will help with the dreaded algorithm. Also… look, if you wanna be a big account, you might need to do romance stuff, stick to gender norms, and if something does well, do more of it. I don’t do cutesy or mommy stuff so finding my niche has been tricky… plus i have a voice that is more thalmor elf than sultry vixen…
  • Scripts/Communities: asmrchives is the best place, plus the subreddits ASMRHaven, ASMRefuge, and TalkingTallTales. For discord, refuge has one, plus ASMRScriptGuild tho it’s not as active as it was. There are others, especially if you’re going NSFW but chives is the best place to start! My advice will always be: only record what you’re comfortable with because you can bet otherwise you’ll get stuck recording stuff that you don’t enjoy. I don’t do yandere but that is insanely prolific and popular. Finally: Ask! Ask if anyone has a script for your archetype! And if it doesn’t exist? Then commission it, dear ‘Liza, dear ‘Lisa, dear ‘Liza… So long as the writer is notified and credited, all is good!

Good luck. Ngl… luck is a huge part of it…

See you around the space!
